Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu Rating – 3.5/5
The film opens in Relangi village that accords Prakash Raj to be a harmonious and helping man of the village. he raises his sister’s
daughter Seetha after she lost her parents. The house accommodates Baamma(mother of Prakash Raj) and Jayasudha (Wife of Prakash Raj) along with his two sons Peddodu (Venkatesh) and Chinnodu (Mahesh Babu). Peddodu is an on-the-button and short tempered person who doesn’t like the way his uncle( Rao Ramesh) treats or talks about his family. Rao Ramesh, father of Geetha (Samantha), happens to be the brother of Seetha’s father, but doesn’t take care of her and further blames the family of Prakash Raj for not being wise or street smart to make wealth. Mahesh Babu is a smart guy, who always had the back of his brother and other family members, apart from falling in love with Samantha. The rest of the story is on how the family of Rao Ramesh learns from the family of Prakash Raj about being human.
Venkatesh played a subtle and composed role as the script expected him to. Mahesh Babu is as energetic as he’s always in a role that draws style and smartness. Prakash Raj, who happens to be the key message deliverer of the film, gave yet another wonderful performance as a father. Jayasudha was apt and didn’t let down her previous performances as mother. Anjali is bubbly, good and refreshing in the film, but resembled the role played by heroine in Kotha Bangaru Lokam. Samantha served the usual heroine in Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu of a star film as she did in Dookudu, low on performance side. But she engaged the crowd with her beautiful smile, body language and screen presence with Mahesh Babu. Rao Ramesh played his part well and didn’t seem low anywhere while performing with Venkatesh, Prakash Raj and Mahesh Babu on screen. Kota, Bharani, Srinivas Reddy and others have played their parts adequately.
One interesting part of the Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is, most of the characters don’t have names. And the whole film’s accent is “godavari-sh”. Mahesh Babu held the key through out the film’s entertainment and unlocks the best of his comedy timing whenever asked for. The way he’s lining up his films as super hits is just stupendous. The story isn’t a new one, but the courage and acceptance of both the heroes to stick to such a nominal subject is great. Background score by Mani Sharma is adding and music by Mickey J Meyer is OK. The director planned his screenplay well during the first half and seemed to have carried away with emotion making the second half slow. Anjali showed promise for more performance oriented roles than for glamor. Dil Raju’s organized his entire crew and budget to bring out a successful venture. Srikanth Addala dealt the stardom and expectations quite well in Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, not to disappoint any sect of the crowd.
